As an avid recreational skier, during his childhood Cameron felt it absolutely essential to adapt and continue skiing after losing his leg to cancer at the age of 14. After attending a ski camp at Mt Buller, organised by a support group, Cameron continued to ski with friends on a recreational level. At the Victorian Interschool Competition (2000) at Mt Buller, Cameron placed 54th out of 225 able bodied competitors.
Due to his success at this event, the current head of Ski School passed on Cameron's name to the Australian head coach. In January 2001 Cameron joined the Australian Development Team in Canada. The National Championships in July 2001 saw Cameron's skiing advance and he was selected to compete at the Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002.
Since then Cameron has been a great asset to the Australian Disabled Ski Team and recently achieved great success on the World cup circuit where he won Gold in the Downhill and Super Giant Slalom and Silver in the Slalom.
Cameron is currently ranked 9th in the world. His goal for the 2004/2005 World Cup circuit was to hold an overall top 10 ranking and then in 2006 go on to win Gold at the Paralympics in Turin, Italy. Cameron is a talented young athlete with the potential and drive to be the World's number one skier.
